What is the Scythe? The Scythe are a band of mercenaries, formed by a mysterious figure known only as Halforc at the end of the last Orc-Human War. In the years since its inception, the Scythe have grown from a small group of freedom fighters, boldly raiding King Drin's heart-land, to a reasonably well-organised band of like-minded killers.
Scythers, as they are affectionately known, are generally a friendly enough bunch when it comes to their own bloodkin, but rarely will a Scyther go out of their way to rescue another Scyther. This thinking may seem strange to those who hide in lesser guilds, but Halforc always insisted that members rely on their own strength, resourcefulness and cunning rather than constantly depend on others to bail them out of sticky situations. It is this philosophy that has helped make the Scythe the most feared clan in the realm.
Who may join the Scythe?Membership to the Scythe is open to all classes except for Paladins, because of the obvious differences in ethos. However, because the members of the Scythe are largely of orcish heritage, elves and their foul kin are not welcome, and will usually be attacked on sight if found roaming the Scythe camp.
In recent years, there has been a large influx in the number of adventurers wishing to join the Scythe and so new members must now pass an entrance test before they may be admitted.
How do I join the Scythe?Assuming you meet the race and class requirements, all you have to do to join the Scythe is present Boki, the recruitment officer, with the corpse of a monster who was stronger than you (when it was alive). If Boki thinks that the monster was good enough, he'll brand you with the Scythe mark and you will become one of the bloodkin.
How do I find the Scythe camp? From the crossroads of Tantallon, go west nine, then go five south. You should now be outside the Scythe camp. Type 'walk' to enter the Scythe clan hut and talk to Boki about joining.
